The awards honored the best work of graphic and industrial design made in Valencia during the last two years. The event took place in the framework of the Valencia Disseny Week 2009. On Thursday 24 September, within the activities covered by the Bombay Sapphire Design Circuit, Ramon Esteve Estudio de Arquitectura held its first open day in the building occupied in the emblematic district of Carmen.
It offered the opportunity to know the work done in this study of architecture and design work that was rewarded during the Valencia Disseny Week ADCV Gold Prize for best design of equipment for DNA sofa. The study became a day of screenings container enveloping the visitor on a journey through the work and projects of architecture and design that makes this team. The physical space where they develop all these ideas became speaker of the same, enshrouded in a day in an atmosphere which was excellent thanks to the wide participation of attendees interested in the work of the study. On 22 September, together with the business macalula Valencia Ona, presented the exhibition "EL QUE ALUMBRA NO ES TRAIDOR" held in THE GUINNESS HOUSE, Plaza del Patriarca in Valencia. It was launched Embolic lamp collection. Its form and nature leads us to the world of pure craftsmanship offering a warm and magical product touching the sculptural object. This is a point of light that illuminates the tangle created, creating unique environments among their shadows. This is the result of a random weave a thin plank of wood, creating a handmade product and high value differentiator. There is no mold or pattern: each piece is different and exclusive. Embolic envelops us with special and unique each time.

JORDI LABANDA IN VALENCIA DEFENDS CREATIVITY IN TIMES OF CRISIS Published at 28-09-2009 
The designer Jordi Labanda was the first speaker in the “Lladró creative round tables” held during Valencia Disseny Week. There was a large audience to hear Labanda explain how his first steps were closely linked to a similar economic crisis to today’s, as it was the deep depression in Spain’s industries in the early 90s which changed his hobby of illustration into his profession, despite having graduated in industrial design.

For the Catalan designer, “In moments of crisis, creativity is fundamental, not only applied to work but also to exploring new areas of work.” In his case, the lack of opportunities in the field of industrial design led him to take his portfolio of illustrations to the newspaper “La Vanguardia” and propose creative collaborations. This round table, bringing together graphic and industrial design professionals and enthusiasts in the Feria’s Espacio Nude, today also saw contributions from Eli R. THE 1ST EDITION OF THE ADCV AWARDS RECOGNISES THE BEST OF VALENCIAN DESIGN Published at 25-09-2009 
The Awards Ceremony of the ADCV (Association of Designers of the Region of Valencia) recognised the best work in graphic and industrial design produced in the Valencian Region in the last two years. The ceremony was attended by numerous design professionals, businesspeople and representatives of Valencia’s political and social fields.

The 17 gold awards in the various categories recognised the work of established professionals such as Pepe Gimeno, Carlos Tíscar and the firm Lavernia & Cienfuegos, as well as young studios which are beginning to make a name for themselves on the national scene, such as Ramón Esteve, Ibán Ramón, Kumi Furió and Néctar Estudio. A total of 461 works were submitted to the competition, a selection of which is shown in the 4th ‘Bianuario’ published by the ADCV. During the awards ceremony the President of the ADCV, Ignacio Gómez Trénor, underlined that the awards “meet the need of the design industry to become better known to the general public and to the business community, and to show the excellent work being done by Valencian designers”. He also invited the business community to “invest in ideas, in quality design as a way out of the difficult situation that industries are going through”. Clients who have entrusted their design to Valencian creative teams include companies such as Toyota, Roca, Gandía Blasco, Cata household appliances, Lladró, Gastón y Daniela, Keraben, Paramount Comedy, Suavinex, Intermón Oxfam, Sanico and RNB. Awards were also given to projects carried out for various Universities, professional associations, foundations and Government Ministries, among other bodies. VALENCIA BECOMES A SHOWCASE FOR INDUSTRIAL DESIGN Valencia, 15/09/09. The Association of Designers of the Region of Valencia (ADCV) has organised ‘Valencia Disseny Week’ (VDW) from 21 to 26 September as a platform to publicise an industry which despite its superb quality is still little known to the general public. The president of the ADCV, Nacho Gómez Trénor, says “this show comes from the need to export design to society, bring it closer to people and show its influence, in the economic field as well as culturally.” In the words of the co-ordinator of VDW Juan Benavente, “we are convinced that Valencia has a lot to say, as it is a landmark in all creative fields.” Sponsored by Impiva, this is the first edition of a show which will form part of VDW and will include activities organised by the association and many other shows and events to promote design by private companies such as Lladró, Corian and Gandía Blasco. Through exhibitions, conferences, showrooms, open days and screenings of the documentaries ‘Success cases’ (Casos de éxito), the Association of Designers of the Region of Valencia hopes to introduce the public to the world of design, showing how it is applied in industry and business, while recognising the excellent work of Valencian designers. D(x)i is a magazine created in Valencia and distributed internationally, which has been widely praised since it began publication. For the last three years the ADCV has collaborated with the magazine with its 8-page supplement, “Diseño de Valencia” (Design and Evolution) (DEV). DEV acts as a channel for introducing new projects and news about the ADCV itself and its members. A unique graphic treatment gives the supplement its own personality and life within d(x)i. The finalists have been brought together for the 4th edition of the ADCV Bianuario, the main showcase for the work of designers in the Region of Valencia, which year by year is becoming a landmark on the national design scene. The panel of judges for this 1st Edition of the ADCV Awards includes top experts such as Toni Sellés, founder member of Vasava Barcelona, Eduardo del Fraile, art director of the Dfraile studio, the product designer Gemma Bernal and the editor of the magazine “Diseño Interior” (Interior design), Jose María Faerna. It will be on show until November, 29th at the MuVIM. It is organized by IMPIVA, its commissioners are Nacho Lavernia and Paco Bascuñán and it has an expositive project by Daniel Nebot. It is an exhibition that highlights the importance of the sector: “This is the best moment of Valencian design. Companies and designers are being awarded with national and international prizes, and their works are published on the most important magazines and exhibited all around the world. “Suma y sigue” tries to be a glance at the best and more up-to-date things of our design.” The inaugural ceremony will take place at the MuVIM at 8 p.m., and will be chaired by Vicente Rambla, First Vice-President of the Valencian Government and Councilor of Industry, Trade and Innovation. The Association of Designers of the Region of Valencia (ADCV), a non-profit organisation, was founded in 1985 by industrial and/or graphic design professionals. It serves the professional interests of its members, helps them enter the job market, publicises their activities in business and institutional media and promotes national and international networking with the design world.

Its organisational structure includes a Board of Directors consisting of the members, a manager and two co-ordinators. Claus Molgaard is trained as mould maker and has a master degree in engineering and a PH.D. Degree in plastic and environmental sciences, from Technical University of Denmark. Since 1998 Claus Molgaard has run his own product developing studio specialised in developing "designer products". Molgard APS is one of the Denmark´s leading providers of concepts to production solutions for new innovative industrial designs. The firm was founded in 1998 by Claus Molgaard, Ph.D., and has provided support and guidance to more than 20 internationally acclaimed designers. Among the clients are both established designers, young designers and manufacturers. En el “Espacio LLADRÓ-ADCV” se realizarán diferentes actividades organizadas por la empresa valenciana de porcelana artística Lladró y la Asociación de Diseñadores de la Comunidad Valenciana ADCV. Por un lado, tras el éxito de la pasadas ediciones, la firma valenciana patrocina por tercer año consecutivo las Charlas entre creativos by Lladró, que como novedad este año cuentan con la colaboración especial de la ADCV. Un punto de encuentro donde poner en común nuevas propuestas y tendencias en el ámbito del diseño, de la mano de reconocidos talentos de diferentes disciplinas del diseño, tanto valencianos como nacionales. Por otro lado se ha previsto una zona de proyecciones con documentales realizados por la ADCV para la VDW, una zona de información para satisfacer las consultas sobre ADCV-VDW y LLadró y una zona WIFI chillout con área para navegantes.
